"convenient ... experiences were good"
I recommend the Pine Edge Cabins in Silver Gate,
MT. We have stayed there twice now and both experiences were good. It's
not ultra modern, so if TV, telephone and internet access are important,
this isn't the place for you. But its convenience cannot be beat since it
is only 1 mile from the northeast gate of Yellowstone and the fabulous
Lamar Valley.
The log cabins were built in the 1930's or 40's, but have been somewhat
updated. The first we stayed in was a simple one-room design with a
kitchen area, a small shower, table & chairs, and 2 double beds with down
comforters. There was a small porch and reading lights were mounted over
the beds. On our second visit we had a 2 room cabin with a double bed and
bunks. Both times the cabins were clean and toasty warm. Dishes, pots,
pans and linens were furnished.
Spotting scopes can be rented for $20 for the first day, $10 a day
thereafter. The managers, Bob and Holly, are very helpful. Even their
golden retrievers, Beacon and Petra, make you feel right at home. We
paid $85 per night--not sure if that reflects the Wolf Watchers
discount or not.
