Institute Announces Family Field Course in Yellowstone This Holiday Season

November 23, 2005

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Families looking for a unique educational experience during this holiday season can join the Yellowstone Association Institute’s new course: Buffalo Holiday: Winter Wildlife for Families.  The course is based in Yellowstone’s quiet Lamar Valley with expert instruction provided by an experienced naturalist/guide.

Buffalo Holiday: Winter Wildlife for Families, December 26 - 29, $180, offers families a unique holiday opportunity to have an in-depth look at Yellowstone’s winter wildlife and ecology.  Adults and children alike will learn winter ecology, watch wildlife, explore the Park on skis or snowshoes, and still enjoy plenty of relaxation time.

The course is based at Institute’s Buffalo Ranch field campus in the Park’s Lamar Valley.  Families stay in shared log cabins for $25 per night, with access to a new heated bathhouse, community kitchen, library, and classrooms.  The field campus offers a unique course setting in a pristine alpine valley in Yellowstone’s northeast corner.

The Institute is a nonprofit field school operated by the parks official educational partner, the Yellowstone Association.  The Institute offers a variety of courses in ecology, wilderness skills, and natural history year-round in Yellowstone National Park.

To enroll in a field seminar, or to request a catalog that includes a full description of all summer and fall courses, please contact the Yellowstone Association Institute at PO Box 117, Yellowstone National Park, WY 82190  307-344-2294.  Complete information is also available at www.YellowstoneAssociation.org.
