Trails Through Yellowstone

March 3, 2006

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK This summer the Yellowstone Association Institute will be presenting a series of programs with day hiking, wildlife viewing, and discovery in the world’s first national park.  Participants will be led by a Yellowstone Association Institute naturalist for four days on carefully chosen hikes to explore Yellowstone National Park’s diverse landscapes, from the geyser basins around Old Faithful to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, and stay overnight at two in-park hotels. The group will search for elk, bison, grizzly bears, wolves, and other species on an evening wildlife viewing expedition.

These Lodging and Learning programs are learning vacations that mix education and hands-on adventure for Yellowstone visitors who want to have fun and rejuvenate while gaining a deeper appreciation for the world’s first national park.  The four day programs are presented by the Yellowstone Association, the official educational partner of the National Park Service, with meals and lodging provided by Xanterra Parks and Resorts, the authorized concessionaire for Yellowstone National Park hotels.

Each program includes two nights lodging at Mammoth Hot Springs and two nights lodging at Grant Village, expert instruction, breakfast and box lunches, in-park transportation, and optional evening programs by the National Park Service or Xanterra.  They are offered every Saturday through Wednesday from May 27 to September 30, 2006.

The Institute is a nonprofit field school operated by the National Park’s official educational partner, the Yellowstone Association.  The Institute offers a variety of courses in ecology, wilderness skills, and natural history year-round in Yellowstone National Park.

To enroll in this or another field seminar, or to request a catalog that includes a full description of all summer and fall courses, please contact the Yellowstone Association Institute at PO Box 117, Yellowstone National Park, WY 82190  307-344-2294.  Complete information is also available at www.YellowstoneAssociation.org.
