OLD FAITHFUL INN UPDATE
News Brief

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK (YNET) -- A number of improvements are underway at Yellowstone's most famous lodge, Old Faithful Inn.

This month, renovation of 32 rooms in the Inn is scheduled to be completed.  In addition, 66 other rooms are getting new furniture, fixtures and equipment.

On the exterior, Old Faithful Inn is getting shingles repaired, as well as a cleaning and a new coat of stain.  Olympic Stain has donated a thousand gallons of stain for the job.

Also, grease traps in the sewer systems at Old Faithful Inn and Old Faithful Lodge are being replaced in an effort to stem recurring sewage problems.

All told, these projects will cost an estimated $650,000.

  MOUNTAIN PLOVER: ENDANGERED?
News Brief

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has scheduled a series of five meetings to discuss the fate of the Mountain Plover, a bird found in the prairies of Montana and Wyoming, as well as in Colorado.  The Plover's population has plummeted by 50% over the past three decades, and the Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking to determine to see if the species should be listed as threatened, which is a step towards a species being considered endangered.

Three of the five meetings will take place in Montana and Wyoming.  Meetings will be held on May 25 in Malta, Montana; May 26 in Billings, Montana; and June 2 in Casper, Wyoming
