Our Readers Respond ...

a LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Clint recently wrote a column about how he believed that Hamilton Stores serves bigger ice cream scoops than does Amfac.  Bruce maintains that Amfac serves the biggest cones. We received the following response from an Amfac employee:

"Clint, You might want to take what Bruce says to heart. Amfac does have the best Ice Cream. And about the size of the
scoops: I guess you were not in the Canyon area last summer. Because our scoops out beat Hammy's by a whole lot! But if your talking about the Old Faithful area, yeah they don't give big scoops there. Maybe you should ask around, or not think
just because one section of the park is just like the others. And if you want some big scoops, come to the Amfac in Canyon
and I'll be sure you get a big one."

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK (YNET) -- Periodically I am going to be giving
an "Award" to the nice people I meet in my travels throughout the   Yellowstone region and the world.

Clint with Dot and Robbie Risner

The United States Air Force has an award they
give each year to their top fighter pilot. This award is called the Risner Trophy named after my dear friend Robbie Risner. I am quick to tell anyone I meet one of the ways God has truly blessed me is in the friends I have. Robbie Risner and his wonderful bride Dot are at the top of my list. This new "nice-person" award is going to be called the "Dot Risner Award". Dot truly is the nicest person I know and its only appropriate to name this award after her.

Having talked about how nice Dot is, you need to also know she is one of the funniest and most fun people I have ever known. As I write these columns I will also share stories of my visits with Dot and Robbie.

National Park Vacations

by CLINT WILKES

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK (YNET) -- When you are in Yellowstone you will most likely drive to Gardiner or West Yellowstone. These are two fun towns to visit. You may not know about Cooke City unless you took the Beartooth Highway into the Park.
I have never heard of anyone who was driving through Cooke City who did not stop. This is a really interesting town.

Cooke City features many great local stores, including an Old Fashioned General Store, a Trading Post, a Bike Shop, a variety of restaurants, and more.

Let us plan your vacation for you from your home to your destination(s) and back again. You can make your lodging, guide service, airline and auto rental reservations online by clicking here.
