Canyon to Tower Jct.
length = 21 miles

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. From the air the canyon stretches for 24 miles and is 800 to 1200 foot deep. It was the yellow coloring of this area that gave the name Yellowstone.

At the upper falls the Yellowstone River plunges recklessly 109 feet to the river below.

The lower falls drops 308 feet and sends a misty spray down the canyon. There are seveal view points in the area. This view is from Artist Point.

As we head north from canyon the road climbs to Dunraven Pass (8,856 feet) and views of Mount Washburn.
