Today was very fun, but extremely cold in the morning. The night before James, Chad, Chris, Justin, Scott, Cody, Joshua, Jim, Katie, Laurie, and Amanda were all the people who lived through the record breaking –28°F weather. It was the first of the hopefully 4-night quinzhee group. This morning, we went wildlife watching. A few people had a chance to see some wolves. Everyone got to see the bighorn sheep, elk, bison, and coyotes. Then in the afternoon we went on a grueling cross-country track up to the Rose Creek Wolf Pens. After that a few people went with our guide, Nathan Varley, to see the Druid Peak Pack. They had just killed an elk and were eating it. Later we worked on our quinzhees, which are near completion. For dinner we had a steak cook out. After dinner we went on our night ski to identify constellations. Then most of us went to sleep in their quinzhees in the hope of setting a new record.
